The high-definition image shows the rocky landscape of Mars, with ripples etched in the surface by the wind.<\/p>\n

But right in the middle of the photo is an object that looks completely different.<\/p>\n

It appears to have a smooth, possibly metallic, exterior \u2013 and what look like lights.<\/p>\n

There is no denying it looks just like a stereotypical spaceship.<\/p>\n

And it certainly doesn\u2019t look like it was created by natural forces<\/p>\n

UFO enthusiasts have jumped on the image as undeniable proof of intelligent extraterrestrial life.<\/p>\n

NASA is yet to comment on the inexplicable discovery.<\/p>\n

But the space agency did announce it had found running water on Mars in 2015 \u2013 and there may be alien life there right now.<\/p>\n

And the explosive new development comes after hacking group Anonymous claimed the space agency is about to announce it has found aliens.<\/p>\n

Alien hunters regularly post videos or photos online that they claim show alien craft.<\/p>\n

They are often very grainy amateur footage \u2013 and not very convincing.<\/p>\n

But NASA\u2019s Rover is equipped with very powerful lenses, so the image is very clear.<\/p>\n

Conspiracy theorists \u2013 who accuse NASA of covering up the existence of aliens \u2013 sometimes post images from the surface of the moon or Mars, claiming they show aliens or their artefacts.<\/p>\n

Mostly they appear to be just an oddly shaped rock.<\/p>\n

But this new image \u2013 which dates from March but has only just been discovered \u2013 is very difficult to explain away.<\/p>\n

But one seemingly well-informed user suggested it could be debris from the Rover\u2019s landing craft.<\/p>\n

User OnceReturned said: \u201cApparently the Rover was near its own entry debris on that date and was photographing it.\u201d<\/p>\n

They added: \u201cThe object certainly appears to be artificial. We know that the Rover was taking pictures of its own entry debris at that time.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s nothing particularly alien about the object in question \u2013 it could easily be entry debris, at least in my opinion.<\/p>\n
