{"id":549,"date":"2025-06-02T05:00:42","date_gmt":"2025-06-02T05:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aliensufo.top\/?p=549"},"modified":"2025-06-01T12:24:35","modified_gmt":"2025-06-01T12:24:35","slug":"unearthed-centaur-skeleton-shocks-scientists-is-myth-becoming-reality","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aliensufo.top\/index.php\/2025\/06\/02\/unearthed-centaur-skeleton-shocks-scientists-is-myth-becoming-reality\/","title":{"rendered":"Unearthed Centaur Skeleton Shocks Scientists: Is Myth Becoming Reality?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The plaque on \u201cThe Centaur of Volos,\u201d which was first displayed in 1980 at the Madison Art Center in Wisconsin, reads: \u201cOne of three centaur tombs discovered in 1980 by the Archaeological Society of Argos Orestiko, eight kilometers northeast of Volos, Greece.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"entered lazyloaded\" src=\"https:\/\/anh.onlinepaati.com\/uploads\/6708d46fbf740-4.jpg\" alt=\"\u1ea2nh \u0111\u00e3 upload\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/anh.onlinepaati.com\/uploads\/6708d46fbf740-4.jpg\" data-ll-status=\"loaded\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The human bones are real, as are the horse bones. But they were spliced together and staged by a guy named Bill Willers. According to forensic science researcher and writer Dolly Stolze of the forensic anthropology website\u00a0<em>Strange Remains:\u00a0<\/em>In 1980, Bill Willers, an artist and professor of biology at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, constructed the skeletal remains of the Centaur of Volos from real human bones and a Shetland pony. The human bones Willers used were from an anatomical specimen, a human skeleton from India, in his university\u2019s biology department. The human and pony bones were stained with tea to give them a uniform color and to make them look authentic.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"entered lazyloaded\" src=\"https:\/\/anh.onlinepaati.com\/uploads\/6708d46fc1e63-3.jpg\" alt=\"\u1ea2nh \u0111\u00e3 upload\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/anh.onlinepaati.com\/uploads\/6708d46fc1e63-3.jpg\" data-ll-status=\"loaded\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Centaur of Volos\u201d toured a number of colleges in the 1980s before being purchased by the University of Tennessee-Knoxville in 1994. It is now on permanent display in the Jack E. Reese Gallery at Hodges Library.<\/p>\n<p>In 2008, Willers was commissioned by Skulls Unlimited \u2013 a company that sells real bones, human and otherwise \u2013 to create another centaur skeleton, this one pictured:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"entered lazyloaded\" src=\"https:\/\/anh.onlinepaati.com\/uploads\/6708d46fc3f71-2.jpg\" alt=\"\u1ea2nh \u0111\u00e3 upload\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/anh.onlinepaati.com\/uploads\/6708d46fc3f71-2.jpg\" data-ll-status=\"loaded\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Centaur of Tymfi\u201d was displayed at the Arizona International Wildlife Museum in 2012 as part of a \u201cMythological Wildlife\u201d exhibit. It was later acquired by The Barnum Museum in Connecticut. (Fun fact: \u201cThe Centaur of Tymfi\u201d actually uses zebra bones, not horse bones.)<\/p>\n<p>As to why \u201cThe Centaur of Volos\u201d was created and aired, according to Stolze: The exhibit is designed to encourage students to trust their critical thinking skills and not accept everything as fact, no matter how believable it may seem or sound, even if it comes from a reliable source such as a university exhibit.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"entered lazyloaded\" src=\"https:\/\/anh.onlinepaati.com\/uploads\/6708d46fc4f03-1.jpg\" alt=\"\u1ea2nh \u0111\u00e3 upload\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/anh.onlinepaati.com\/uploads\/6708d46fc4f03-1.jpg\" data-ll-status=\"loaded\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And according to\u00a0<em>Roadside America,<\/em>\u00a0Willers \u201cconceived the centaur as a way to test the public\u2019s willingness to believe the unbelievable, just as P.T. Barnum did.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>These days, I\u2019m fairly certain I could post the Volos photos on Fa<span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">cebook and have\u00a0<\/span><em style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">at least<\/em><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\"> five people believe it.
