This former U.S. Air Force intelligence officer, who was going to testify to Congress about secret UFO programs, died in an accidental drug overdose. U.S. Congressman Eric Burlison called Sullivan’s death suspicious.
Matthew James Sullivan, a 39-year-old former U.S. Air Force intelligence officer, died at his home in Falls Church, Virginia, on May 12, 2024. The medical examiner ruled his death an accidental overdose.

According to New York Post, the timing of his death, just months before he was expected to appear before Congress, has raised suspicion among some lawmakers and UFO researchers.
U.S. Representative Eric Burlison wrote to the FBI director, asking the bureau to investigate Sullivan’s case because of concerns about possible foul play and the safety of others involved in UFO‑related disclosures.
Sullivan is described as someone who worked in sensitive U.S. intelligence roles, including positions that dealt with the Air Force, the National Security Agency, and various combatant commands.
He was also reportedly one of the people whose testimony helped build the case for David Grusch’s UAP whistleblower claims, which has made his death a focal point in broader debates about UFO secrecy and whistleblower safety.
