In the latest of a series of bizarre claims about Mars, UFO hunters believe they have spotted an “alien mothership” on the planet’s surface.
Using pHgrams released by NASA, the YouTube channel ‘UFOvni2012’ compiled a video pointing to a dark shape on Mars.
The shape, which closely resembles a rock, could be a crashed spacecraft created by an alien civilization, he claims.
Using pHgrams released by NASA, the YouTube channel ‘UFOvni2012’ created a video showing how a dark shape (in the image), remarkably similar to a rock, could be a crashed UFO.
“If we analyze the crash site, we will see that the UFO, approximately 190 meters wide, impacted the surface at a low angle, becoming partially buried in the Martian soil,” the video says.
The YouTube video description states that it depicts the Medusa Fossae formation on the planet, a “large geological unit of uncertain origin”.
According to the European Space Agency, the Medusa Fossae formation is an extensive unit of enigmatic origin, located near the border between the volcanic activity centers of Tharsis and Elysium.
In the video, two lines are drawn on the phograph to highlight parts of the UFO.
The image shows a detailed drawing of what the UFO might look like if it were a spaceship.
“If we analyze the crash site, we’ll see that the UFO, approximately 190 meters wide, impacted the surface at a low angle, ending up partially buried in the Martian soil,” the video says.
“The long, winding landing marks left by the craft show that it landed as smoothly as possible,” UFO hunter Scott Waring told Metro.
“It looks like a base that opens its door and lets the light escape onto the sand dunes of Mars,” said one commentator.
‘Or it could simply be a damn meteor that fell,’ said another.
Meanwhile, Nigel Watson, author of the UFO Investigation Handbook, stated: “I think it’s more likely to be a natural geological formation.”
“Although there is an added mystery in the claim that the images were removed from websites to keep this image secret.”
Mars is a favorite location for UFO observers, with reports in recent months ranging from the remains of a brown bear to an alien gold ring.
Do you believe in conspiracy theories? You’re probably a narcissist.
According to a study conducted earlier this year, people who doubt that humans will ever land on the moon are more likely to be selfish and attention-seeking.
Across three online studies, researchers at the University of Kent demonstrated strong links between belief in conspiracy theories and negative psychological traits.
In an article published in the journal Social Psychological and Personality Science, the team explained: “Previous research has linked belief in conspiracy theories to low self-esteem.”
In the first study, a total of 202 participants answered questionnaires about beliefs in conspiracy theories, asking about their level of agreement with specific statements, such as whether governments carried out terrorist acts in their own territories.
In addition, they were asked to complete a narcissism scale and a self-esteem assessment.
The results showed that people who scored high on the narcissism scale and had low self-esteem were more likely to believe in conspiracy theories.
“When we finally get there, say in 2033, as suggested by the National Geographic Channel’s TV series about Mars, it will be fascinating to see these supposed alien artifacts, spacecraft, and bases up close, to discover the truth firsthand.”
Many scientists believe that sighting strange objects, such as a “coffin” or a UFO on Mars, is simply a case of pareidolia.
This is a psychological response to seeing faces and other significant everyday objects in random places.
It is a form of apophenia, which occurs when people see patterns or connections in seemingly unrelated data.
There have been several occasions where people have claimed to have seen religious images and themes in unexpected places, especially the faces of religious figures.
A famous example was when Mary’s face was a grilled cheese sandwich.
Images of Jesus have even been found inside the lid of a Marmite container and in a potato.
The Medusa Fossae formation is an extensive unit of enigmatic origin found near the boundary between the volcanic activity centers of Tharsis and Elysium, according to the European Space Agency.
